Roots Farm Fresh is available in stores at Sprouts, Erewhon, Natural Grocers, The Fresh Market, Harris Teeter, and Kroger banner stores nationwide. But for many families, especially those who do not live near one of those retailers or who want the convenience of monthly delivery, the direct-to-consumer shop at rootsfarmfresh.com is the primary way to buy. This guide covers everything you need to know: how the ordering process works, what the subscription saves you, how the frozen shipping guarantee works, what to do if something arrives wrong, and how to build a meal prep routine around a monthly delivery.
How to Place a One-Time Order
Go to rootsfarmfresh.com/collections/roots. Every product in the line is available for one-time purchase or subscription. Select the products and quantities you want, add them to your cart, and check out. Shipping is free on every order. There is no minimum purchase required.
The full white potato line, Classic Cut Fries, Crinkle Cut Fries, Crispy Waffle Fries, Crispy Potato Wedges, Crispy Potato Tots, and Crispy Hash Browns, is available online. The full sweet potato line, Sweet Potato Fries, Crinkle Cut Sweet Potato Fries, Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, Sweet Potato Tots, Sweet Potato Hash Browns, Sweet Potato Toast, and Sweet Potato Croutons, is available online. All products are 15oz bags.
How the Subscription Works
The Subscribe & Save option saves you $10 per order and delivers automatically on a monthly basis. Subscription benefits:
Convenient monthly delivery. You select the products and quantities you want and the subscription fulfills automatically each month. Pre-shipment reminders by email and SMS text before each delivery, so there are no surprise charges. Easy modification of product types or quantities at any time through the Roots website or by SMS text reply. Cancel any time, no contract, no cancellation fee. 100% frozen guarantee on every order.
To start a subscription, select the Subscribe & Save option on any product page before adding to cart. You can mix and match products across the full line. To manage an existing subscription, including changing products, skipping a month, updating your address or payment method, or canceling, log in at rootsfarmfresh.com/pages/manage-subscriptions or reply to any shipment notification text.
Shipping Schedule
Roots ships Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week. Delivery takes two days from the ship date, meaning orders arrive Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Roots does not ship Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday because two-day shipping over a weekend creates time in transit that risks the frozen guarantee.
When your order ships, you receive an email and SMS text with tracking information. You also receive a delivery notification when the package arrives. All communications come to the email and phone number on your order.
If you need a delivery to arrive by a specific day, order with enough lead time for the shipping window. An order placed Monday morning ships Monday or Tuesday and arrives Wednesday or Thursday. An order placed Thursday will ship the following Monday.
The Frozen Guarantee
Every Roots order is guaranteed to arrive frozen, or Roots reshipsit at no charge. This is not a satisfaction claim. It is a literal guarantee: if the product arrives thawed, you contact Roots at hello@rootsfarmfresh.com and they resend the order.
Roots has invested in packaging specifically designed to hold frozen temperature through two days of transit. The box uses biodegradable insulation and is fully recyclable. The packaging materials are designed to maintain frozen temperature from the moment the box leaves the facility to the moment it reaches your door under normal transit conditions.
If your order arrives with any product that is not fully frozen, email hello@rootsfarmfresh.com with your order number, a brief description, and photos of the packaging if available. Roots asks that you report any issues within seven days of delivery. Replacement ships at no cost.
The same applies to damaged packaging: if any products arrive damaged, contact Roots within seven days with your order number, a description, and photos. Damaged products are replaced at no cost.
Freezer Space: What You Actually Need
Six bags of Roots fries take up approximately 0.15 cubic feet of freezer space. The bags are flexible, flat when empty, and stackable, making them adaptable to almost any freezer configuration. You can store them flat in a stack, upright in a row, or tucked into a freezer door shelf. Even a small compact freezer of approximately three cubic feet has plenty of room for a standard six-bag delivery alongside your other frozen items.
If you subscribe to a larger quantity, the bags stack efficiently because of their flat profile. A twelve-bag delivery occupies roughly 0.30 cubic feet, which fits comfortably in a single freezer shelf in most standard home freezers.
Freezer Stability: How Long Can You Keep Them
Roots fries are safe in your freezer for up to 12 months from the production date. The products arrive with meaningful time remaining on that window. Frozen at 0°F or below, the texture and flavor remain stable throughout the shelf life. Once you open a bag, the remainder can be resealed and kept frozen without quality loss.
Do not refrigerate Roots fries , they are designed for frozen storage and should go directly into the freezer when they arrive. If your order is left on a porch and the outside temperature is cold enough to keep the package frozen, that is fine. If you are concerned, check that the contents are still solid before putting them away.
Packaging and Sustainability
The Roots shipping box uses biodegradable insulation made from plant-based materials. The outer box is 100 percent recyclable. This matters because most frozen food delivery services use foam packaging that is not recyclable in standard curbside programs. Roots designed the packaging around the same sustainability philosophy that drives the product: minimize the environmental footprint at every stage.
The bag itself is sealed with a resealable closure. After cooking from the bag, roll the top closed and return the remainder to the freezer. The bags are not marketed as infinitely resealable, so for longer-term storage of a partial bag, a freezer-safe zip bag over the Roots bag adds an extra layer of protection.
Building a Meal Prep Routine Around Monthly Delivery
The subscription model is designed for families who eat Roots products weekly. If your household goes through roughly one to two bags per week across the full line, a monthly subscription of four to eight bags covers the month with reasonable buffer.
A practical approach is to rotate formats across the week. Classic Cut Fries or Crinkle Cut Fries as a side with dinner two nights per week. Tots or Hash Browns for weekend breakfast or brunch. Waffle Fries or Wedges for a more substantial side. Sweet Potato Croutons in a weeknight salad. Sweet Potato Toast as a grain-free base for weekday lunches. With thirteen products in the line, a monthly delivery covering multiple formats creates a week-to-week rotation without repetition.
For school lunches, the thermos method works for every Roots product. Cook in the air fryer in the morning, preheat a stainless steel food thermos with boiling water for two minutes, pour out the water, fill with the freshly cooked fries or tots, seal, and pack. They hold temperature and texture for three to four hours, which covers a standard school lunch period without needing a microwave.
For batch cooking, Roots fries and tots cook evenly in large air fryer batches when spread in a single layer. For larger quantities, use two air fryer baskets or cook in sequential batches. An oven with two sheet pans run simultaneously is efficient for larger family meals.
How to Use the Store Locator
If you prefer to buy in store, the Roots Store Finder shows every retail location currently carrying Roots products. Enter your zip code or city to see stores near you. Retail availability varies by location. Not every format is available at every retailer, and the online shop carries the complete line.
The store locator is updated regularly. If a retailer near you is listed but you cannot find Roots on the shelf, ask the frozen foods department. Products are sometimes stocked on freezer doors or end caps rather than the main frozen potato section.
Same-Day Delivery Through Instacart
For same-day delivery from a local retail store, Instacart delivers Roots products from participating retailers. Instacart availability depends on which local stores carry Roots and whether those stores are active on Instacart in your area. Same-day and next-day delivery windows are available depending on your location and the store's hours.
